Wider world
The Oakes community is obviously just one part of a worldwide Christian family.
We believe that God is concerned about our area, our town, our nation and the wider world. That’s why we maintain close links with various local, regional, national and international organisations.
Local
We have close links with other local churches - we're part of Hope Huddersfield and members of Churches Together in North West Huddersfield, which includes Lindley Methodist Church, Mount Methodist Church, Salendine Nook Baptist Church, Salvation Army, St Philip’s Church, Birchencliffe, St Stephen’s Church, Lindley
We have a continuing arrangement in the church to collect food and other supplies for the Huddersfield Welcome Centre food bank.
We are also part of the Yorkshire Baptist Association.
National
We are members of the Evangelical Alliance, the Baptist Union of Great Britain and support the Baptist Union's Home Mission scheme.
International
As part of the Baptist family we support BMS World Mission. Two of our members, Richard and Carole, are actively engaged in BMS projects in Uganda and we also support BMS link workers in North Africa and Asia.
We actively support a number of Christian charities, including Tear Fund and the Christian African Relief Trust, a local charity helping to ease poverty and suffering in a number of African states.
